A collaboration agreement was signed this morning in L’Escala between the Girona Greenways Consortium and the L’Escala Town Council, for the joint promotion of the Girona Greenways Marathon and the Empúries Marathon, with a view to creating a Pirinexus league that will bring together the majority of races held along this route that links the Girona region with Northern Catalonia.

Miquel Calm, Chairman of the Consortium, and Estanislau Puig, mayor of L’Escala, have signed a collaboration agreement that mainly envisages the joint publication of promotional material and merchandising, their joint presence at fairs and relevant sporting events, and the creation of discounts and benefits for participants in the races (in future editions).

The Girona Greenways and Empúries marathons are the first races of the Pirinexus route that the Consortium has collaborated with, and it has expressed its intention to continue working with other towns and institutions that organise sporting events along the 353 km of the cycle tourism network that was inaugurated last spring.
